P&O Cruises' Britannia to Homeport in St Lucia

(11:15 a.m. EDT) — P&O Cruises will homeport Britannia in St Lucia for the first time next year, as part of its 2016-17 winter deployment.

Britannia, the cruise line’s newest vessel, will begin its St Lucia cruises on 12 November 2016, after a 22-day transatlantic repositioning cruise from Southampton.

Sailings have been on sale since yesterday (15 October) and are part of P&O Cruises’ extended fly-cruise program of new 7-night cruises — a first for the line — alongside traditional 14-night winter sun itineraries with flights to and from St Lucia or Barbados.

P&O Cruises’ Marketing Director Christopher Edgington, said: “Introducing new itineraries that all depart or return St Lucia will offer a new dimension to our Caribbean cruises. St Lucia is a popular destination with passengers and no other (large) cruise line has it as a homeport, so we are looking to make the most of this by offering an exciting range of shore excursions to maximise the time there.”

Cruisers will be able to visit numerous Caribbean destinations including Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Dominica, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Maarten, St Kitts, St Thomas, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.

Following 28 voyages from St Lucia, the ship will depart the Caribbean on 4 March 2017 and return to Southampton.
