Carnival Cruise Line Tests Tailored Cabin Services Program

(12:40 p.m. EDT) — For a number of months, Carnival has been testing a pilot program that allows passengers to customize their cabin service experience on four of the line’s ships.

Currently available on Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Dream, Carnival Pride and Carnival Spirit, the program allows cruisers to choose to have their cabins serviced in the morning for a “refresher,” at night for turndown service or both.

Additionally, passengers can choose from a list of available amenities, including bathrobes, as well as extra pillows, hangers and blankets. They are also able to specify how often they would like their linens to be changed during the course of each sailing.

“The new approach relies heavily on personal interaction between guests and their stateroom steward,” says Carnival representative Vance Gulliksen, noting that stewards present cruisers with their options on embarkation day.

Passengers can also select their preferences by using the “menu of services” card left in each stateroom. If passengers make no selections, Gulliksen says stewards automatically default to servicing rooms twice a day, as is standard on the rest of the ships in Carnival’s fleet.
