(1:10 p.m. EDT) — The Grammy Experience music venue onboard Norwegian Getaway has been replaced with the Fat Cats Jazz & Blues Club, after Norwegian Cruise Line’s agreement with The Recording Academy concluded last month. Through the partnership, which lasted just 20 months, Norwegian brought several Grammy-award winning artists onboard Getaway to play in the intimate venue. In between concerts, passengers could browse through the displays of Grammy-related memorabilia.
The end of the Grammy Experience is just one of many recent partnership changes for Norwegian Cruise Line. The line’s popular affiliation with Nickelodeon comes to a fleetwide end at the end of this year; it will be replaced by a partnership with The Kings Foundation, for an onboard “edutainment” experience. Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian is no longer affiliated with the line’s Ocean Blue restaurants. Instead, Jose Garces, also an Iron Chef, has two venues on Norwegian Escape. Also not on Norwegian Escape? Well-known cake baker Buddy Valastro’s brand of “Carlo’s Bakery,” which can be found on every other ship in the fleet.
