(1:25 p.m EST) — TV personality and conservationist Jeff Corwin will host a private event on the Panamanian island of Isla de Coiba during Windstar Cruises’ March 5, 2016, Costa Rica & Panama Canal sailing. Corwin will speak about animal conservation during the port stop as well as during an onboard presentation.
Corwin is best known for his “Jeff Corwin Experience” TV show on Animal Planet, as well as for being the host of the Emmy award-winning TV series “Ocean Mysteries” on ABC. During the excursion to Panama’s Isla de Coiba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and national park, he will give passengers background on the howler monkeys, Scarlett Macaws and turtles they’ll see.
After the wildlife sightseeing, Corwin will join passengers for beach fun, including volleyball and snorkeling; a full beach barbecue also will be offered.
Corwin’s presence gives passengers onboard Star Breeze a more intimate look at a Panama Canal itinerary that many cruise lines do, though with just 212 passengers, Star Breeze is able to visit much smaller ports than large ships.
Other private events scheduled for 2016 Windstar sailings include feasting on reindeer meat in Iceland, exploring the marble caves of Bergtatt, Norway; and watching the people of Catalonia, Spain, build traditional “human towers.”
