(12:10 p.m. GMT) — Celestyal Cruises has installed 43 new balconies on Celestyal Crystal as part of an upgrade to prepare the ship for the 2016 season.
The 20-day refurbishment saw 26 new balconies added to cabins on Deck 6, and 17 new balconies added to cabins on Deck 7. Eight of the ship’s existing balconies were refurbished and extended.
Each of the new balconies extends 1.4 meters from the ship’s bulkhead and measures between 2.8 and 5.8 meters in length. Celestyal Crystal now has a total of 53 balconies — 43 balcony suites, eight balcony suites and two imperial balcony suites.
Speaking about the upgrades, Kyriakos Anastassiadis, CEO of Celestyal Cruises said: “These balconies are part of an extensive refurbishment program to continually elevate the quality of our brand and to ensure we are delivering a positive passenger experience on all of our vessels” .
Celestyal Cruises is refurbishing other ships within its fleet including Celestyal Olympia which will see upgrades to its 21 junior suites, nine suites and 227 outside cabins; and Celestyal Nefeli which comes into service in February next year, and will see all cabins and public spaces redecorated.
