(9:45 a.m. AEST) — P&O Cruises president Sture Myrmell says “hot demand” for its latest ships, Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria, has spurred record bookings for the cruise line. The first week of January was its biggest ever week, with bookings up 84 percent on the same period last year.
“We’ve been selling our expanded five-ship fleet for more than 12 months, but the bookings for Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden are really pouring in now that the ships are here and people can see for themselves how impressive they are,” Mrymell said.
“Our 2016 inventory is filling up fast, so travellers should move quickly if they want to cruise this year.”
In 2016 P&O expects to see more than 420,000 passengers on its five ships, Aria, Eden, Dawn, Pearl and Jewel. Next year, it will add Pacific Explorer (currently sailing as Princess Cruises’ Dawn Princess) and a brand new P&O ship will be built in 2019.
New ports and itineraries will also be revealed soon, Mrymell said.
