(9:35 a.m EST) — Windstar Cruises will have James Beard award-winning chefs onboard three separate 2016 culinary-themed sailings, as part of its partnership with the James Beard Foundation.
"If service is our soul, our heart is food," said Hans Birkholz, president and CEO of Windstar Cruises, at an event, held at the James Beard House in New York City. "Culinary traditions are the best way to experience a new destination."
Each guest chef on a James Beard sailing will partner with members of Windstar’s onboard culinary team to offer cooking demos, one-on-one interaction, a nightly featured dish and even guided onshore tours. The three 2016 James Beard Foundation Collection cruise itineraries are: seven nights onboard Wind Surf to Southern Spain and Morocco — Lisbon to Barcelona — with Chef Michel Nischan (founder and CEO of Wholesome Wave) on April 24; nine nights sailing Spain and France onboard Star Legend from Lisbon to Dublin with Chef Maria Hines (owner and executive chef of Seattle Tilth) on June 10; and Spain and France from Dublin to Lisbon with Matt and Kate Jennings (owners and chefs at Townsman in Boston) on August 9.
Windstar Cruises recently won Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards for best service and best embarkation in the small-ship cruise line category.
