(2:15 p.m. EST) — The February 22 sailing of Carnival Fantasy, departing from Miami, will substitute calls on Key West and Cozumel with stops at Freeport and Nassau, due to a technical issue that is causing the ship to sail at slower speeds.
According to a statement from Carnival, a Carnival LIVE performance by comedian Kathy Griffin, which was scheduled for Wednesday during Fantasy’s call on Cozumel, has been canceled. Passengers who purchased tickets will receive full refunds. (Griffin’s Thursday performance in Cozumel for those aboard Carnival Breeze is unaffected.)
Passengers on the rerouted Carnival Fantasy sailing will be given $50 in onboard credit and a discount of 25 percent off a future cruise. The line is bringing additional entertainment onboard, as well.
Over the weekend, when the problem began, the ship’s previous sailing called on Freeport instead of Nassau. Carnival says technicians continue to work to repair the issue.
