(3:15 p.m. EST) — Celebrity Cruises is serving up cultural films with multicourse tasting menus in their "A Taste of Film" experience, which takes place in the Rooftop Terrace, a newly designed alfresco lounge, complete with large screen and cabanas.
The themed dinner-and-a-movie event debuted on Celebrity Infinity in December, and will roll out to Celebrity Summit in March and Celebrity Millennium in May, following refurbishments. On Infinity, the Taste of Film experience costs $10 per person.
The first movie will be "The Hundred-Foot Journey," a film about feuding French restaurants (one natively French and one Indian), which will be paired with a menu inspired by the film, and developed by Celebrity’s associate vice president of food and beverage operations, Cornelius Gallagher. Passengers will follow the plot of the movie with Indian-inspired dishes, such as crispy shrimp with tamarind or beef filet Bombay with mango pickle. To represent the French cuisine, truffled mushroom risotto, sea scallops with glazed leeks and port wine jus, and Valrhona chocolate cake with sweet vanilla Chantilly will round out the meal.
"We launched with ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’ because it emphasizes — through both story and visuals — the power of food to bring people together, and to evoke memories," said Gallagher.
