Royal Caribbean Unveils Private Excursion Program

(9:30 a.m. EST) — Royal Caribbean passengers seeking personalized shore excursions around the world can now take advantage of the line’s Private Journeys program. The concierge-style service, with a $100 fee, enables cruisers to book port visits tailored to their budget, interests and travel style.

Private Journeys gives passengers access to one of nine Destination Insiders, who can help them plan every detail of their shore excursion before their cruise sets sail. Excursion activities can include cooking alongside Michelin-starred chefs, sailing the Italian or French Riviera on a private yacht, or get a taste of Alaska at a fireside crab feast in a remote fjord.

Roberta Jacoby, managing director of global tour operations for Royal Caribbean, calls Private Journeys an «evolution» of the line’s existing shore excursion program, that enables Royal Caribbean to «offer guests the bespoke travel destination experience of their dreams, even if they don’t know exactly what that is yet.

«As travelers continue to seek out more personalized and immersive destination experiences that can be intimately shared with only their family and friends, Private Journeys empowers guests to make that a reality and a seamless element of their Royal Caribbean vacation.»

The $100 Private Journeys fee is applicable to the final cost of the excursion. (To celebrate the launch of the program, Royal Caribbean is waiving this requirement on all bookings made through the end of the month.)
