(11:40 a.m. EST) — Celebrity Cruises has expanded its custom shore excursion program in Europe and created the role of «Destination Insider» to assist passengers with crafting personalized excursions called «Celebrity Private Journeys.»
Among the new custom offerings on the continent are:
- «Uniquely Celebrity» tours that include an overnight stay in Athens while watching the sun set at the Temple of Poseidon or a visit to an organic winery in Mykonos;
- «Celebrity Exclusive» experiences that include zooming down the French Riviera in a Lamborghini or exploring Mykonos by private yacht;
- «Real Greece» tours led by the ship’s own Greek officers and offering a bit of local flavor in seven Greek ports;
- The «Great Adventures» series of tours curated by Ben Fogle, a British adventurer, author and broadcaster, that includes rafting down the Tiber River in Rome to «rediscover» the capital city of centuries ago, and an active swimming, cycling and kayaking trip down the Adriatic coast in Dubrovnik.
To get the highest level of customization, passengers can work with experienced Destination Insiders to arrange any kind of experience from helicopter rides to dinner for two, in unique locations such as the hilltops of Santorini or Dubai. Time with local one-on-one guides can also be arranged. This service incurs a $100 fee, applicable to the final cost of the excursion. (Celebrity is waiving the fee and offering free consultations from now through March 31.)
Prices vary by excursion option.
The new excursions are part of Celebrity’s efforts to beef up its offerings in Europe. Other new European programs for the line include Chef Market Discoveries — guided tours of local markets by the onboard chef — and the EuroXPass package, which bundles perks, air and cruise fare.
