(10:45 a.m. BST) — River cruise specialist Scenic has opened bookings for its first ocean cruise on Scenic Eclipse, due to set sail on August 31, 2018.
The maiden voyage onboard Scenic Eclipse travels from Istanbul to Venice, before a full schedule of 2018-2019 itineraries begin, covering Europe and the Mediterranean, the Americas and Antarctica.
The all-suite, 228-passenger ship, will have an ice-strengthened hull, twin helicopters, an aft marina with a fleet of Zodiacs and a seven-person submarine. It also includes complimentary WiFi, unlimited beverages, butler service for all guests, shore excursions and verandah suites.
Scenic Eclipse will have the highest passenger ship ice-class rating — 1A Super — allowing it to operate deep into the Arctic and Antarctica, where it will spend three months of the year.
An example of a 2018 itinerary includes the 10-day Eastern Mediterranean Treasures voyage, sailing from Venice to Barcelona, which starts from £3,895.
Nichola Absalom, Scenic brand manager said: «We’re ecstatic about the stir Scenic Eclipse has already created. This unique experience is set to change how people travel and with onboard zodiacs, a six-seater submarine and two twin-engine helicopters to enable guests to discover areas inaccessible to many, we aim to ignite a fire of wonder within our customers as they sail through the spectacular world around us.»
