Sun Princess Refurbishment Unveiled on Singapore to Bali Cruise

(11:30 a.m. AEST) – Sun Princess has emerged from a 14-day dry dock in Singapore in April 2016 with new dining, bar and entertainment options and more comfortable beds in all cabins.

Among the most anticipated additions is Share by Curtis Stone — the first Australia-based Princess Cruises ship to offer this celebrity chef restaurant at sea. Emerald Princess, which arrives in Sydney in November for its inaugural Australian season, also features the new venue. Share replaces Verdi’s pizzeria.

Cruise Critic member Kiwi_cruiser, who was onboard Sun Princess this week sailing from Singapore to Bali, took these three photos of Share. For a preview of the menu, Cruise Critic reviewed Share on Ruby Princess earlier this year.

During its dry dock, Sun Princess cabins also received the new Princess Luxury Bed, which have a 23-centimetre medium-firm mattress with a 5cm-thick mattress topper, plus individually wrapped coils for less partner disturbance. Each bed has a new duvet and Jacquard-woven cotton linens.

Among others changes is the transformation of Kai Sushi into the Kai Seafood Bar with a new wine and seafood offering (freshly shucked Australian oysters, prawns, sashimi and shellfish) exclusively designed for the Australian market and unique to Sun Princess.

A New Zealand Natural ice cream outlet has also opened on the pool deck and the Horizon Court dining area was refurbished, adding the Amuleto Café serving Italian-style coffee and cakes.

Following the lead of Sea Princess, Sun Princess now has the Legends sports bar, with darts, a pool table, foosball table, and multiple LED screens showing AFL and NRL football matches, the Australian Open and other sports.

Entertainment improvements include the local debut of Princess Cruises’ highest rated stage show, Bravo, combining musical theatre and opera, performed by the ship’s musicians, singers and dancers, plus guest soloists.

Sun Princess sails from Brisbane, Sydney and Fremantle to the South Pacific, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. A minor issue with its generator is expected to be repaired onboard.
