(10:20 a.m. EDT) — Cunard Cruise Line will add two new dining venues, Carinthia Lounge and The Verandah Restaurant, to its remastered Queen Mary 2, plus enhance other existing restaurants.
The ship’s major refit, which begins May 27, will replace The Winter Garden with Carinthia Lounge, which will offer alternative breakfast and lunchtime options, as well as premium coffees. Todd English, the ship’s current Mediterranean restaurant, will become The Verandah Restaurant, serving contemporary French cuisine.
Kings Court buffet restaurant is set to be completely transformed, with the addition of a new Smokehouse alternative dining concept.
For those passengers staying in suites, the Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants will also offer new menus in a refurbished setting.
Menus in the Britannia Restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner; the Golden Lion pub and Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, where Cunard’s afternoon tea is served, will all be refreshed.
Cunard has created and tested many of the new menus in the line’s development kitchen, based in Southampton.
“We are pleased to debut refreshed culinary offerings on Queen Mary 2 Remastered, which we have created to appeal to the most discerning guests while revitalising classic dishes and creating new ones,” said Cunard’s Marketing director Angus Struthers.
QM2 undergoes an extensive 25-day dry-dock refurbishment from May 27 at the Blohm + Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany, before sailing from Hamburg, via Southampton, to New York on June 21.
