(6:45 p.m. EDT) — To avoid severe weather near Western Australia, Sea Princess altered its course on Saturday, which prompted a couple of itinerary changes on its current 104-night world voyage.
According to a statement from Princess Cruises, the ship anchored in Esperance on Saturday to allow the storm system to pass before sailing. Sea Princess is now scheduled to arrive in Fremantle on Tuesday, May 24 — a day later than originally planned. Due to the delay, the ship will skip a call on Colombo, Sri Lanka, which was initially on the itinerary for May 30. The ship will then spend 10 days at sea as it continues on to Dubai, where it is expected to arrive as scheduled on June 4.
Passengers have been notified of the modifications, but there has been no word yet about whether compensation has been offered to cruisers for the missed port.
