New Cruise Line Dream Cruises Opens For Sale in Australia and NZ

(12.30 p.m. AEST) — Dream Cruises, the newest addition to the Genting Hong Kong stable and claimed to be the first-ever Asian luxury cruise line, is now available for sale in Australia and New Zealand.

The line’s inaugural ship, Genting Dream, is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and will launch on 6 November 2016 with a six-night repositioning cruise from Singapore to Hong Kong.

Itineraries for the rest of the year, departing weekly from Hong Kong, are set to explore Vietnam’s Da Nang and Hanoi (Ha Long Bay), along with calls into China’s Pearl River Delta. From 31 December 2016 to 31 March 2017, the seven-night itinerary will change to calls at Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City.

“We are delighted to launch Genting Dream in Australia and New Zealand and feature popular destinations such as Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong,” said Brigita Devries, Assistant Vice President, Australia and New Zealand, Dream Cruises.

“Dream Cruises aims to be a pacesetter in the cruise industry in the region, with the finest dining options, exceptional service, enthralling entertainment and inspirational experiences.”

Genting Dream will accommodate 3,400 passengers, attended by 2,000 crew — a leading crew to guest ratio in Asia-based cruising. More than 70 per cent of cabins have balconies, with 100 connecting rooms for families and groups. It will also have the exclusive ‘Dream Mansion’, a luxurious ‘ship-within-a-ship’, with two floors of suites featuring European-style butler service and other special privileges.

Onboard experiences will include luxury shopping, enrichment activities such as wine and whiskey tastings, as well as 35 restaurant and bars, multiple swimming pools, six water slides, play rooms, a rock climbing wall, mini-golf, a spa, beauty salon, barbershop, and health club. A 610-metre wraparound promenade will allow seaside dining and lounging in several themed venues.

Custom built for the Asian market, Genting Dream is expected to be followed by a sister ship, World Dream, in November 2017. Genting Hong Kong also launched Star Cruises in Asia 1993 and acquired Crystal Cruises last year. For more information, see the Dream Cruises website.
