(2:00 p.m. BST) — Regent Seven Seas has named H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco as the godmother of their fourth ship Seven Seas Explorer.
The christening will take place at a gala ceremony in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on July 13, marked by a 40-minute performance from world renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.
President and COO of Regent Seven Seas Jason Montague said: “It’s fitting to have the world’s most luxurious ship, Seven Seas Explorer, christened in one of the most glamorous cities in the world by H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco who is the definition of elegance, grace and passion.”
Seven Seas Explorer is Regent’s first new ship since 2003 and will join the line’s current fleet of three ships including Mariner, Navigator and Voyager.
The ship will carry just 750 passengers within 375 suites, including the 3,875-square foot Regent Suite, which is home to a custom-built Steinway grand piano and a cruise industry first in-suite spa, including unlimited complimentary spa treatments.
Seven Seas Explorer will also feature five dining options, including the line’s popular Prime 7 Steakhouse and Veranda Cafe; the main dining room, The Compass Rose; and two new specialty dining options, the Pan-Asian Pacific Rim and French Chartreuse restaurants. Onboard dining options will be complemented by Regent’s first culinary center, the Culinary Arts Kitchen.
Seven Seas will set sail for its maiden voyage on July 20, 2016, spending its inaugural season in the Mediterranean before repositioning to Miami.
